Yellow Club
Latin name: Clavulinopsis helvola
Yellow Club fungus is a bright yellow or orange-yellow fungus that is paler towards the base. It is a small, upright, spindle-shaped club, somewhat twisted, with a distinct narrowing towards the base. The tips are generally unbranched, rarely with a single fork and usually blunt, irregularly rounded or flattened in cross-section, with grooves running lengthways and a smooth surface.
Yellow Club fungus can be found from September to November, growing solitary or in small groups on the ground amongst grass and moss in acidic, unimproved grassland.
Fairly common and widespread throughout Britain.
