Red and Black Froghopper
Latin name: Cercopis vulnerata
This Red and Black Froghopper is a without doubt an unmistakable species.
It is one of the largest homopterans in Britain, measuring around 9-11 mm in length.
The nymphs of the Red and Black Froghopper are rarely seen. They feed underground on roots.
Adults can be seen from April to August in a variety of wooded and open habitats.
They are found in Britain, south of the Scottish Highlands.
