Latin name: Laccaria laccata

A small mushroom, pale-red to brown in colour and around 2 to 10cm tall. Said to be the most common toadstool type mushroom in the the British Isles.

Known as the Deceiver due to its highly variable range of size and colour which may in fact be due to several, similar species being grouped and one.
