Black Darter

Latin name: Sympetrum danae

The Black Darter dragonfly is fairly common in moorland areas and can be found in great numbers. The female Black Darter and immature males are yellow in colour, the adult males are black. Black Darters can be pretty easy to to examine up-close or photograph when they are perching, particularly in later summer.
