Alder Spittlebug
Latin name: Aphrophora alni
The Alder Spittlebug is probably the most common and widespread, of several similarly patterned, large froghoppers. The genus can be recognised by the keel running down the midline of the head and pronotum. The species can be recognised by the colour pattern with its distinct white patches near the margin of the wings. The adults can be seen across Briatain, from May to October, on a wide range of trees and bushes.
