British Wildlife

A guide to wildlife, plants and wildflowers, birds and animals, insects and amphibians of the United Kingdom.

The British isles are home to a multitude of plants and animals living wild throughout the country. With some species still in decline, others are now thriving and many, once polluted rivers having been turned back to nature since the industrial revolution and the uncaring years of industry between then and now.

While the much celebrated Kingfishers are returning to rivers across the country as fish populations begin to recover; other animals like foxes are moving into the towns and cities and are often seen in gardens at night.

Brett Gregory is an award-winning filmmaker based in Bolton whose production company, Serious Feather, is currently making a documentary about autism and poetry.

As a part of this production, Landscape Britain was asked to advise with regards to the location of specific areas of outstanding natural beauty throughout the region.
