Alance Bridge
The “modern” (c1857) stone bridge over the Yarrow Reservoir that replaced the old bridge in at the hamlet of Yarrow that was just downstream before the construction of the reservoir.
There really isn’t much-if-anything left of the old village, bedrock can be seen when the water-level is low. It’s likely that ground was excavated out here to create greater depth for the reservoir, a good deal of landscaping and embankment building is evident across the water.
The water-level here is highly-variable and the bridge can be high-and-dry at times and at other times the water covers the smaller arches.
