Walsall Arboretum
Walsall Arboretum is a large public park located near the centre of Walsall, West Midlands. Covering around 80 acres, it provides green space for recreation, leisure, and events. Originally opened in 1874, it was developed from a former limestone quarry and has since been expanded and improved.
The arboretum features a variety of landscapes, including formal gardens, woodland areas, and open parkland. A large boating lake, created in the 19th century, remains a focal point of the park, attracting visitors for walks and wildlife spotting. The site is home to a range of trees and plant species, some of which date back to its early development.
Facilities include a children’s play area, tennis courts, and a visitor centre with a café. Walking and cycling paths run throughout the park, providing access to peaceful green spaces. The arboretum also hosts events such as outdoor concerts, funfairs, and seasonal festivals.
Recent regeneration projects have restored historical features and enhanced the park’s amenities. It remains one of Walsall’s key attractions, offering a mix of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and community activities.
