Tilberthwaite Gill Head Waterfall by munki-boy
Tilberthwaite Gill
Tilberthwaite Gill is in The Lake District National Park in England.
Tilberthwaite Gill is a rocky stream running down a gorge that is very steep in places and contains a number of waterfalls.
Tilberthwaite Gill is a good choice for gorge walking/swimming with the right equipment but it is very difficult to negotiate during a regular hike. Some of the waterfalls are very steep and block the gorge in places. There are some spectacular copper mines here including two tunnels directly above each other. Worth a look if you don’t mind walking back the way you came to climb back out.
High up on the hillside there is the Gill Head Waterfall that is great to see and has an interesting mine tunnel at it’s base. It can be difficult to descend to view the waterfall from the stream bed, look for the old miner’s steps nearby but watch your footing.
