The Goit in Brinscall by munki-boy

The Goit

An artificial river that was constructed to transport water from the Roddlesworth Reservoirs down to Anglezarke and the Rivington Reservoirs.

Despite the too regular shape of the banks and bed the Goit has been around so long it almost looks natural and is totally blended into the surounding nature. There is plenty of wildlife and fishes can be seen flashing through the water.

A portion of the Goit heading into Brinscall is culverted and leaves the underworld via a rather nice double tunnel mouth that is constructed of local stone, that matches some of the stone bridges downstream.
