Spinningfields

Spinningfields is known as the city of Manchester’s financial centre, and is home to a number of banks, professional services firms, and media organisations. The area has undergone significant redevelopment over the past decade, with new office blocks, apartments, bars, and restaurants being built. The Manchester Evening News has its headquarters in Spinningfields, as does the BBC North West region.

Spinningfields is also home to a number of high-end shops and boutiques, as well as the O2 Apollo Manchester music venue. There are a number of parks and open spaces in the area, including Hardman Square and Exchange Square.

The name ‘Spinningfields’ is derived from the former spinning mills that were located in the area. These mills were used to produce cotton thread, which was then used to make cloth. The area was also home to a number of warehouses and factories, which have now been converted into office space or apartments.
