Sheephouse Farm

Grade II listed late 17th Century farmhouse and outbuildings.

Farmhouse with attached cottages and barn. The house probably originally late C17 or early C18, extended to rear early C19. Cottages probably late C18, and barn dated 1862, extended by the addition of shippons in 1901. Coursed and squared stone with stone flagged and slate roofs.

The farm formed part of the Ainsworth’s Smithills hall estate.

The old powder magazine for the local mines is adjacent at the corner of the Intake Plantation woods.
