Lead Mines Clough Waterfall
Lead Mines Clough Lower Waterfall
The lower waterfall one encounters when walking up the Lead Mines Clough is located in the Limestone Brook, on a geological fault that is easy to spot to the left of the main footpath.
It is a very small waterfall but nicely positioned with a small pool in front and areas of flat bedrock in the stream bed on either side of the fall. A good place for picnics and paddling.
The shale beds surrounding the waterfall contain various marine fossils but hunters should confine their search to shale quantities that are already in the stream bed rather than causing further erosion by mining the banks.
