Lancaster is in northwest England. It has a medieval castle, 19th-century prison cells, and views of the River Lune. The city museum features displays on Lancaster’s history and its army regiment in a Georgian building. Williamson Park has woodland walks, a butterfly house ,and coastal views. The waterfront has the Storyhouse, an arts center with galleries and theaters, plus bars and restaurants overlooking Morecambe Bay.

The History of Lancaster

The history of Lancaster dates back to Roman times, when a Roman fort was built near the present site of Lancaster Castle. Since then, Lancaster has been at the center of England’s history.
