Ellin's Tower by JRL
Ellin's Tower
Ellin’s Tower, constructed in 1867 was a summer retreat for the wife of William Stanley.
Ellin’s Tower became a popular attraction in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, before falling into disrepair.
In 1980 Ellin’s Tower was purchased by the RSPB who opened it to the public as an information centre and bird hide in 1982. Birds which can be seen here in large numbers include guillemots which favour the crowded, narrow ledges, and puffins, often found on the steep grassy slopes above the cliffs.
