East Kilbride
The town of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire is located just south of Glasgow. East Kilbride has a population of approximately 75,000 people and is the sixth largest town in Scotland.
East Kilbride was originally developed as a planned new town in the post-war period. The town was designed to provide good quality housing and employment opportunities for people living in Glasgow’s overcrowded inner city.
Today, East Kilbride is home to the East Kilbride Shopping Centre, which is one of the largest shopping centre in Scotland. The town also has a number of parks and green spaces, as well as a variety of leisure and sports facilities. There is also a lively nightlife scene in East Kilbride, with a number of bars and clubs located in the town centre.
