The Donegal Bay shoreline has pristine beaches, such as Horn Head and Lough Swilly. Surfing is popular at Rossnowlagh Strand. Donegal Castle Gardens feature walks around the castle walls, plus contemporary sculpture. Glenties features Celtic ruins that date to the 3rd century AD, as well as traditional music sessions in The Central Bar. Nearby Glenveagh National Park has walking trails through lakes and mountains.
