Culver Battery
Culver Battery is a former artillary battery built in the early 19th Century.
Today the remains of a series of gun emplacements which were modified through the wars to fit improved guns, can be found. The majority of the former rooms below ground were infilled, but were excavated in the 1960s. The remainder of the surface buildings were demolished.
Culver Battery is in Isle Of Wight AONB, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
