Chelmsford Cathedral
Chelmsford Cathedral
The first recorded service took place in 1223, and the earliest stone masonry discovered here dates from Norman times. The church was rebuilt throughout the 15th Century, including the tower, eaves, and magnificent South porch. It took nearly a century to finish because of internal conflict between supporters of Yorkist Bouchiers and Lancastrian de Veres who were financing the rebuilding project.
