Chelmsford
Chelmsford is a city in Essex, northeast of London.
The city’s medieval cathedral has stained glass and a colorful ceiling depicting saints. At the Essex Regiment Museum to the city’s south are military relics including guns, decorations, and uniforms.
Chelmsford was founded by the Romans but gained real prominence in the Anglo-Saxon era when King Sledd established a palace here around 600 AD after the Romans left Britain.
In the Middle Ages, Chelmsford became a walled city and important market town.
Today, tourists come to see other historical sites such as Chelmsford Cathedral and the city’s thirteenth-century city walls. The city is also known as an industrial center with manufacturers that produce engines, shoes, and electrical equipment. In particular, the city hosts a large number of car components companies.
