Bevis and the Ruined Summerhouse

In Silver Well Wood beside the River Yarrow is the site of a ruined summerhouse which was part of Duxbury Park. The summerhouse was demolished in the first half of the 19th Century and replaced with a statue and grave marker for a beloved family dog.

Listning the flow of Yarrows rippling waves,
Pause and bestow a tributary tear,
The bones of faithful ‘Bevis’ slumber here,
