Audley End is a Jacobean country house located near Saffron Walden, Essex, England.
Founded in 1538 by Thomas Howard, second Duke of Norfolk, Audley End was built to impress. The mansion became the family seat for the Howards until 1750 when it was sold to an East India Company merchant. By 1810, Henry Holland hadbeen commissioned to remodel the mansion in the 18th century style. In 1910, Lord Braybrooke reopened Audley End House and Gardens to visitors after they had been closed for the war effort.

Wander the state rooms, which were remodeled in the Jacobean style by the third Lord Braybrooke in the 1820s and reflect his taste. Take a trip through the Service Wing, which includes ancient kitchens, a dairy and laundry rooms to experience what life was like for Victorian staff who worked here. Meet the horses in the stable yard and learn about the history of the estate at work and play.
The award-winning gardens, which were redesigned by Capability Brown, may be explored. Before admiring the natural kitchen garden, gaze at the formal, beautifully restored parterre and cloud hedge. To discover the peaceful Elysian Garden, Temple of Concord memorial to the Second World War Polish resistance soldiers, go for a stroll through the acres of park.
