The County of Derbyshire
Derbyshire is a county in the East Midlands of England.
A large portion of the Peak District National Park lies within Derbyshire. It contains the southern extremity of the Pennine range of hills, which extend into the north of the county. Derbyshire also contains part of the National Forest.
It has borders with West Yorkshire to the north, South Yorkshire to the northeast, Nottinghamshire to the east, Leicestershire to the southeast, Staffordshire to the west and southwest, Cheshire also to the west and Greater Manchester to the northwest.
Kinder Scout, a moorland plateau and National Nature Reserve, at 636 metres (2,087 ft), is the highest point in Derbyshire. The lowest point at 27 metres (89 ft), is Trent Meadows, where the River Trent leaves Derbyshire. The River Derwent is the Derbyshire’s longest river at 66 miles (106 km) and runs roughly north to south through the county.
Derby is the United Kingdom’s most central city. It has the best of both worlds. A cultural base situated in the East Midlands and is on the edge of the Peak District National park.

A nice circular up the River Dane to the historic Panniers Pool at Three Shires Head (or Three Shire Heads as it once was known); talking in good views of the surrounding hills and the small waterfalls below Pannierspool Bridge.
