Jobson Close Cave

Jobson Close Cave is in The Lake District National Park in England.

Jobson Close at Rydal Water has a small quarry forming two man-made caves behind an open-cast quarried area. The cave is easily seen from the main walking path but access, although not a hard climb, is enough to deter casual walkers. The entrance to the man-made caves at Jobson Close is behind a small quarried dip and above a rock wall. It is dangerous to climb unassisted but not too difficult.

Inside the cave at Jobson Close it is quite damp underfoot and there may be a danger from rock falls. It is quite similar to the more easily accessible Rydal Cave nearby.
Inside the cave at Jobson Close there is a small tunnel leading through to a second, smaller cave. A torch is required as the tunnel and cave have no natural light. The second cave at Jobson Close is quite small and leads no further but is worth a look if you’ve bothered climbing into the first cave.
